For food-grade and pharmaceutical-grade products, sodium gluconate can regulate human acid-base balance, ensure the normal function of nerves, effectively prevent the occurrence of Low Na syndrome, as food additives and pharmaceutical intermediates. Sodium gluconate has obvious coordination effect, which is suitable for molybdenum, silicon, phosphorus, tungsten, nitrite and other formulations; the corrosion inhibition rate increases with the increase of temperature, the ability of scale inhibition is strong, it has strong complexation ability to calcium, magnesium and ferric salts; as the corrosion inhibitor of circulating cooling water, it is also a great advantage of sodium gluconate.

In the industry generally with glucose-containing substances as raw materials, the fermentation process is made from glucose to glucose acid, and then by sodium hydroxide to neutralize, can be sodium gluconate, can also be used electrolysis and oxidation synthesis.
